Nick Sousanis

Comics Scholar and Maker

Nick Sousanis is an Eisner-winning comics artist and educator, and a professor of Humanities & Liberal Studies at San Francisco State University.

His first book Unflattening was published by the Harvard University Press in 2015. His comics have appeared in Nature, the Boston Globe, and Columbia Magazine.

Trevor R. Getz

Comic Historian

Trevor R. Getz is a Professor of African and World History at San Francisco State University. His work focuses on history education as well as the social history of Africa. He is the lead author of two graphic histories– Abina and the Important Men, which won the 2014 James Harvey Robinson Prize, and The First Black Marines. He also edits two series of issue-length comics on African history for the Civics for All Comic Group, Lukasa and Jali.

Kay Sohini

Comics Maker and Illustrator

Kay Sohini is a researcher, writer, and comics maker based in New York. She has a PhD from Stony Brook University, where she drew her doctoral dissertation as a comic, supported by the Mellon Foundation and the American Council of Learned Society. Her first book, This Beautiful, Ridiculous City, is slated to be published by Ten Speed Press in January 2025.

Lillian Melcher

Comics Maker and Illustrator

Lillian graduated in 2016 from Parsons School of Design with a degree in illustration. She has been honored with the SCBWI Student Illustrator Scholarship and The Society of Illustrators Illustrator 62 juried show and book. She was the illustrator for Andrea Wulf’s The Adventures of Alexander Von Humboldt.

Winston Schultz is an illustrator, comics artist, 2D animator and aspiring storyboard artist born and raised in San Francisco California.
